Weekly Updates gone bad

January 18, 2008

I’ll be away for the next few days, and probably won’t be able to get the scores done until Monday evening. Also I’ll be away on holidays from Jan 24th to Feb 9th … so no updates to the scores for two and a half weeks as i’ll be in Kitzbuhel (picture below) enjoying myself … for once :)

Top Team IT2

January 11, 2008

This is the best team you could have had for the second Inter Transfer window (Nov 2 – Jan 2). A massive 528 points, far outscoring any of our lame efforts. How many of those players did you have? I think that all but Joe Hart and Sol Campbell were represented on peoples teams.

  £ Points
Joe Hart 3 25
William Gallas 7 46
Martin Laursen 3,5 43
Phil Neville 4,5 38
Sol Campbell 5 35
Cristiano Ronaldo 9,0 84
Steven Gerrard 8,0 63
Tim Cahill 5,5 60
Dimitar Berbatov 8 55
Roque Santa Cruz 4 46
Kenwyne Jones 2,5 33

  60 528

Our best team only managed 359 points. We could have beaten that with the following team purchased for only £37m:

  £ Points
Joe Hart 3 25
George McCartney 2 22
Martin Laursen 3,5 43
James McEveley 2 9
Stephen Kelly 2 4
Cristiano Ronaldo 9,0 84
Clint Dempsey 2,5 37
Tim Cahill 5,5 60
Mikael Forssell 2,5 25
Kenny Miller 2,5 23
Kenwyne Jones 2,5 33

  37 365

Une petit problème

December 10, 2007

You’ve probably noticed that the dates on the tables are displayed in French :( Now, i’m not trying to be eccentric or anything! I’m having a bit of a problem getting the language settings on my computer back to their former settings. Hopefully I’ll get it sorted sometime soon, but it seems easier said than done.

Missing Players

December 4, 2007

Here’s a list of the players that have been missing this last while due to injuries, suspensions … or just not good enough. Some of our teams are really suffering.

  • Alexander Hleb has re-injured his hamstring, as well as his ankle and looks like being out for a while.
  • Cesc Fabregas looks likely to miss two more matches (Newcastle & Middlesboro) due to his hamstring injury.
  • Robin Van Persie (PatM,DonalG,DerMc) will not be back for another two or three weeks.
  • Anyone know if Rio Ferdinand was injured last night or if he was struck down by the same bug as Patrice Evra?
  • Hermann Hreidarsson (Mairead,Sonya,Ola,PatG,Dan) was injured during October/November, but he’s injury free since November 10th. It’s just that he can’t get his place in the Portsmouth defense, and has been on the bench for the last three games. They haven’t left in a goal in a month either, so don’t expect him to break back into the starting lineup soon, unless they’re looking to score a few more goals (they’re scarce at the moment).
  • Olivier Kapo (Magicians,DerG, Mairead,Ola,DonalG,Shaybee) did not start the last day for Birmingham in their exciting win over Spurs. It looks like he may fall out of favour with new manager Alex McLeish, and won’t be scoring much from now on in.
  • Petr Cech (Sonya,Ola,Shaybee) is due back on December 8th.
  • Ricardo Carvalho (Sonya,Don) isn’t due back until December 16th.
  • Robbie Keane (PatM,DerMc) is suspended for the next 2 league games after his appeal against his straight red against Birmingham failed. He’s back for the game against Arsenal on December 22nd.

What would have been!

November 5, 2007

I was wondering how things would have fared if we had not made any transfers this week, so before I change the teams, here are the scores as they would have been. Sonya would have been going great guns again, and would be looking to take out Pat Murphy in the next few weeks … but that’s the way it goes … I’ll have the new changes up soon enough.

05/11/07 Team Name Total Week
  Pat Murphy 260 25
  Sonya 251 39
  Shaybees 244 22
  Don 240 19
  Donies Dynamos 237 24
  Mairead 235 19

Bits and Pieces

May 14, 2007

For those of ye that want to validate your scores using the microsoft excel spreadsheet I’ve been using all year, then you can download it here:
http://www.farmercash.com/fantasyfootball/Fantasy%20Football%202006-2007%20p%2011.zip
Any grievances / appeals better come in fairly soon before the money goes out, as it will prove hard to get the money back off Dermot (again).
It’s been a pleasure and something to keep my mind occupied for the last few months, so for all of ye involved or not, enjoy the summer and the break (that means you too Sonya & Edel!!!)

Last Transfer Window is open

March 19, 2007

This is taken from the youthemanager.com side and we’re following the same transfer windows:

The time to dumps those duds and sign some superstars is here! The FOURTH and FINAL YTM transfer window has opened, and it is your last chance to make changes to your team that could bag you one of our top prizes! The window will close at 12:30pm on Saturday 31st March, so the changes you make will affect the last games in the race for March’s Manager of the Month. We have added a few new faces to the YTM playerlist for this final window including Man City’s striker, Emile Mpenza, and Arsenal’s young Brazilian midfielder Denilson. Henrik Larsson has now left Man United and is back in Sweden so be sure to ship him out.

This is the number of transfers each player has left:

Der’s Mighty Men 4
Cash’s Cruisers 3
Donal Murphy 5
Pat’s Pricks 3
Donal C’s Losers 5
Eddies Gunners 5
Shaybee’s 4
Don’s Deadlies 3
DJ’s Danger Men 0
Maireads Sexy Men 2

DJ can’t ship out Henrikk Larsson cos he has no transfers left. It’s looking like he’s doomed to relegation.

Ohhhh Sweet Jesus, I’ll be killed

March 5, 2007

I’m going to be killed! I just realized as i got the dates of the transfer window incorrect. After declaring Dermot the winner, I have to backtrack. there’s still twelve games to be played.
Phew!! Just got off the phone to Der and he seems to be okay with it. He probably won’t sleep for the night with the shock though.
Of course everyone else is going to be delighted. Especially those with Arsenal, Villa, Chelsea or Man City players because they have two matches before the transfer window. (All other teams have one match left).
So it’s game on again.
