Winners Presentation

Der Golden received his prize-money last night for winning our inter-transfer competition with his team”Der’s Mighty Men”. Wearing his club kit he was presented with his €20 prize by yours truly, but he has his eyes focused on the €80 prize as overall winner. With 10 games to go and 36 points clear of second, you would be a brave person to bet against him taking that title too.

Thanks to Mairead (of the Sexy Men fame) for doing the photo shoot, and thanks to DJ too for coughing up the prize-money (Ahemm!!!!). Finally, it’s Der’s birthday today (20th March), so happy birthday Der.

Last Transfer Window is open

The time to dumps those duds and sign some superstars is here! The FOURTH and FINAL YTM transfer window has opened, and it is your last chance to make changes to your team that could bag you one of our top prizes! The window will close at 12:30pm on Saturday 31st March, so the changes you make will affect the last games in the race for March’s Manager of the Month. We have added a few new faces to the YTM playerlist for this final window including Man City’s striker, Emile Mpenza, and Arsenal’s young Brazilian midfielder Denilson. Henrik Larsson has now left Man United and is back in Sweden so be sure to ship him out.

Der Golden wins the inter transfer competition this week and also stretches his lead on top of the main leaderboard to thirty four points. You’d have to wonder if he’s catchable at this stage due to his outstanding form. However form is a fickle thing and can be gone next week, and with the last transfer window open who knows who is going to surge out of the pack and have the proverbial stormer.
Eddies Gunners have leapfrogged shaybee’s team, but you’d feel that it’s all too late at this stage. they’re in midtable obscurity and seem to be like the hammers: up, down, up down, up down…

Inter Transfer – Final Table

The inter transfer competition from Jan 5 to march 19 has finished. After a long struggle and some tooing and froing and appealing, Der’s Mighty Men have solidified their place as top dogs in this competition by pulling away from all pretenders on the last weekend to set himself up for top prize. I wouldn’t begrudge it of him because he thought he’d won it two weeks ago because of my incompetence, but it wasn’t to be.
Prize ceremony this evening hopefully, and we’ll have his beaming smile and pearly whites up here to prove it.

Donal’s Loser team did a bit of catching up tonight with seven of his players coming from either Arsenal or Chelsea (5 playing tonight) and gave him a very respectable. Frank Lampard Scored and had a clean sheet bagging himself 9 points. It’s pretty obvious from the table above who had him!!!!

So Der’s Mighty men have stretched their lead to 10 points again from both Cash’s Cruisers and Don’s Deadlies. He’s looking the likely lad to get the dosh now.

Off Topic: Valencia v Inter fighting

In the video below, look at what causes most of the trouble. David navarro (a sub) throws a sly dig to the face of Burdisso, breaking his nose…. then all hell breaks loose after that (There’s a good angle of the punch with about 10 seconds to go in the video). Good job for him that he can run quick otherwise he’d have been totally clobbered. Expect lots of punishment for players and teams.

I’m going to be killed! I just realized as i got the dates of the transfer window incorrect. After declaring Dermot the winner, I have to backtrack. there’s still twelve games to be played.
Phew!! Just got off the phone to Der and he seems to be okay with it. He probably won’t sleep for the night with the shock though.
Of course everyone else is going to be delighted. Especially those with Arsenal, Villa, Chelsea or Man City players because they have two matches before the transfer window. (All other teams have one match left).
So it’s game on again.

** Update (5/Mar): Stop Stop Stop. The transfer window isn’t for another two weeks. So we had a bit of a false stop. sorry for confusing everyone. See the more recent posts for details.

In the end it was mighty close. Don’s Deadlies charging down the rails in the last furlong only to fall short by a nose. But Congrats must go to Der’s mighty men on an outstanding consistant performance throughout the transfer window (january 5th to march 5th). You can see how even the teams are as only 20 points separated the first eight positions. Dermot’s boils down to one small detail. Paul Scholes moment of madness with four minutes to go in the Liverpool v Man U game last Saturday cost him 3 points that would have done the business for him.

Pity scholesie didn’t connect properly!

It’s that time of year when the final straight is in sight. This weekend everyone got roughly the same score, and there was some minor swapping of places down the pecking order.

• Benni McCarthy was the man of the moment this week with his two penalties. The teams that have him all scored in the high 30s. In effect he was the difference between a good week and an average one.
• Pat G lost ground on all the leaders because he doesn’t have Benni.
• Shaybee continued his recent run of solid form to move into fifth position, passing out Donals Losers who are dropping like a stone in water.
• Eddies Gunners continue their decline and only some good decisions in the transfer window will keep him out of the relegation battle.
• Speaking of the relegation battle, DJ’s Danger Men are like his beloved Hammers. Now stuck in the relegation zone and fighting in vain to get out. DJ needs some divine inspiration to get out of his hole, but maybe a little luck wouldn’t do any harm. (By the way the hammers are doomed. They really need to win 6 out of their remaining 9 games. I doubt it).

Inter Transfer about to climax tomorrow

Well, the saturday games are over and it looks like it’s all down to one game on tomorrow (Sunday) to give us our result for definite. There are a number of permutations that can whip the leaders position away from Dermot G. These are:

• campo scoring once (or maybe twice)(patG) and benni mc not scoring.
• gary speed scoring 3 penalties (shaybee)
• Benni McCarthy scoring 8 and Campo scoring twice (mike C)
• anelka scoring 4 times (dj)
• jaaskelainen leaving in 10 (yes ten) (donal M)

… and probably some more outrageous scenario’s that could see Der losing his cheque in the post tomorrow evening.
