Six midweek games played on Wednesday, and Arsenal loosing again there’s a lot of disappointed defenders going around.

• The Cruisers have stretched their lead on top from their three closest rivals, and are also heading out the inter-transfer competition.
• Even though they scored only 13 points, the Donal’s Loser team have passed Eddie’s gunners who were diabolical with just 8 points.
• Shaybee’s have continued their good run of form this week and just edged out Donal Murphy. Looks like he’s lining up a move onto the podium in the next few weeks.
• Team of the mid-week however goes to one of the more unlikely candidates. After weeks of abuse from mé féin, his almost totally new team have come up trumps. No prizes this time, but (some) pride has been restored. There’s a couple of teams above them that look like they might be in danger of joining the relegation battle.

It’s been another interesting weekend of games with the result of the Man Utd V Chelsea game having a big bearing on the defences. Defenders picking up points were a rare commodity this weekend, with only Reading, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham keeping clean sheets. Most had a few players pick up a few points here and there with a goal or an assist, so it’s been a tight weekends action. Highlights this week are

• Der’s Mighty Men are closing in on top position, with Jamie Carragher and Anton Ferdinand (soon to be in the slammer) picking up nice points these last two weeks
• Donal C’s Losers are really losing their way. The Leaders three weeks ago were putrid this week and are now down to fourth, with Eddie’s Gunners keeping a steady pace and just edging them out.
• Donal Murphy’s team has been making strides these last few weeks … but all the good work has been undone with a miserable 14 points. (A bit like loosing a 6 point game in a relegation dogfight). Shaybee all new team is hot on his heels now and will surely come strong when the team blends together in the next few weeks!!!!!
• Another emerging battle is Pat’s Pricks who are limping along with Don’s Deadlies looking like they’re going to strike next week and pass them out
• Mairead’s Sexy Men have been showing off what they can do in the last few weeks. They’re in fourth position in the November to January Competition, and could pounce at any time. Might be a case of beauty before the beast!!!

Tomorrow’s a big day as there’s a good few Chelsea and United supporters on everyone’s team (DJ has 6, Mike 5, Shay 5, Pat 4, Don 4). Here’s hoping for a 0-0 stalemate … or John Terry to bag a hat-trick.

Late Transfer News

DJ has gone and fixed his team so it no longer costs £61m (cheating tactics), but now costs £60m. Has has made his seventh switch: the popular Ivan Campo for Michael Dawson. Both players scored only one point last week, so there’s no advantage to him in the change (neither are bound to score much for the rest of the season).
So, all is forgiven …. or so he thinks. (i’m still taking ideas on the method of physical torture)

With all the furlore over getting engaged, Dermot and Mairead have forgotten to make the changes to their team. So it’s going to be coming week before the changes are made …. so last chance this time.

Guess the young lad with the dodgy singing voice. He’s good at barking out orders now … to refs and umpires

Transfer Controversies and Headaches

Now that our first transfer window has passed, we find ourselves with a problem. DJ (one of the organizers) has entered a team worth £61m, which is over the budget. This was of course only copped last night (Sunday). I think he needs to go back to the other side of the teachers desk and redo that course on addition. (Of course it can be considered as a course day … so he’ll get paid for it !!). We have a few options on how to handle the situation:

• Kick him out of the competition … and take his money. (Maybe a little harsh for the person that is currently drinking through his cases of wine he bought with your entry fee.)
• Allow him to keep his team . (I can imagine the whinging from the rest of ye …. that are close to the bottom of the table with him. (OK, there isn’t too many of ye down there))
• Allow him to make minor changes to his over budget team, as long as it doesn’t increase his points tally.
• Use his team as it was before the transfer window and allow him to change it this coming week with Mairead and Dermot. (A 12 point penalty)
• Physical torture. (I’m all for it even if he got to keep his extra million … and we could combine it with any of the other above options.).

Any other ideas (or specifics on the method of physical torture) then you know where to come.

Since Dermot and Mairead were away in the Canaries (congrats and best wishes to them both), they were unable to make changes, so we’re letting them make their changes during this week (before 25th Nov).

Isn’t democracy great. Make the rules up as you go along

PS. Any new eurolotto millionaires will have a €9,600 tax imposed them which will be distributed among the prize-winners!

The first transfer window is over for most, and how has your new team fared? On a week of low points for the players that appear on lots of teams, team points were generally low for everyone.

• The Cruisers on top have stretched their lead, with Barton and Kanu adding 18 points between them, and the defense contributing handsomely too.
• Former leaders, the Loser team have lost ground on the leaders with a dismal display from his Arsenal players.
• Eddies Gunners have lost their momentum eating into the lead this week, but have still managed to move up one place into third. Another man banking on the Arse to lead him to the top.
• Der’s Mighty Men have lost more points this week, but with his transfer window coming up this week, there may be big changes ahead to stop the slide!!!
• Shaybee commented “I hope they will begin to push me up the table” after making eight changes to his side. A poor showing this week again means that he may need to do some push-ups himself and help out his group of misfiring stars.
• Pat’s Pricks had another dismal week … even after seven transfers, maybe he should have held his nerve, especially with his defence, because he would have been 14 points better off with his old defence!!!
• News today that £8.0 William Gallas is out for a few weeks with a thigh injury suffered this morning in training. Also, news that Sheola Ameobi could be out for the rest of the season with a “deteriorating hip injury”, that is worse than first feared.
  

Of course the inter transfer window competition has started this week also, with the Cruisers leading that out too, but it’s early days yet and anyone could yet come out trumps.

On a week of movers, shakers and high scores, we have a new leader coming into the first transfer window. Cash’s Cruisers have just nudged past Donal Cashman’s Loser Team (who have been on top since the start). Der’s mighty men hung in there in third, but the big surprise is the rise and rise of Eddie’s gunners in fourth. Two weeks ago they were 28 points off the top spot, now they’re just 13 … definitely catchable if they have another week like the one just gone.
Back in fifth, Donal Murphy’s team is making a charge too. They have gained 20 points on the leaders in the last two weeks, and if they keep that up it’s going to get very crowded at the top!!!

Don’t forget that the transfer window is open this week until next Saturday morning. The full list of players and my contact details are on the right side of this page. Also don’t forget that there is a new sub competition running from now until the next transfer window, so if you think you haven’t a chance of winning the main competition (DJ), you can still go for glory in this new competition … or at least get your money back

New Sub-Competition

To make things more interesting for people further down the leader-board, there will be a small competition for the team with the best total from the upcoming transfer window until the next one in January.

So essentially, the main competition (lasting the full season) will go ahead as normal, and in this new competition everyone will start at zero points from the 18th November, and the competition will finish on January 5th.

Prizes have not been decided as of the moment.
It is intended to run a similar competitions between the other transfer windows of the season.
